How to Repair Scratch with Our Touch Up Bottles
Repairing a car scratch with a touch-up bottle can be a simple and cost-effective way to restore your car's appearance.
Here are the steps you can follow:
1. Clean the area
First, clean the area around the scratch with soap and water. Use a microfiber cloth to dry it thoroughly. The surface must be clean and dry, for best results use our Panel Wipe and Degreasing Cloth.
2. Shake the touch-up bottle
Shake the touch-up bottle well before use, for at least 2 minutes. This will ensure that the paint is well mixed and the colour is consistent.
3. Apply the paint
Open the touch-up bottle and apply a small amount of paint to the scratch and leave for 15 minutes to check the colour match.
If you're happy, use a steady hand and the fine brush to ensure that the paint goes only where it's needed. Apply thin layers and leave 15 minutes to dry before applying another layer. You may need to apply several layers of paint, depending on the depth of the scratch.
4. Let the paint dry
Allow the paint to dry for at least 15 minutes between layers. When you're happy leave the paint several hours or ideally overnight. Only once the paint has cured can it be polished or the clearcoat applied.
5. Polish the area
Once the paint has dried, use a fine-grit sandpaper to gently buff the area around the scratch. This will help to blend the new paint with the surrounding area. Finally, apply a coat of polish to protect the new paint and give your car a shiny finish.
